    Alexander "Buddy" Abel

    Founder & Head Coach

    I've been in the fitness industry for over 10 years, but training has always been more than just a hobby to me. Fitness completely changed the direction of my life. What started as an outlet eventually gave me discipline, confidence, and purpose, helping me go from an out-of-control kid to a focused, hardworking man.

    Over the years, I've had the opportunity to coach a wide range of training styles, including boxing, Muay Thai, HIIT, CrossFit, and strength training classes. I'm also certified in Olympic weightlifting, landmine training, and working with pre- and post-natal clients. My approach to coaching is built around helping people train safely, build confidence, and make long-term progress no matter their experience level.

    I started The Barbell Club because I wanted to share the mental and physical benefits that strength training gave me with other people. I truly believe lifting can change lives, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. Strength training teaches discipline, resilience, consistency, and self-belief in a way few things can.

    My goal with The Barbell Club is to create a place where anyone can walk in, feel welcomed, learn how to train properly, and become the strongest version of themselves — both inside and outside the gym.

    I have worked since 2020 as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Embodied Exercise Specialist, passionate about helping people build strength, resilience, and deeper connection with their bodies.

    I blend strength training, corrective exercise, and nervous system-informed movement to create a supportive, empowering approach to fitness that goes beyond aesthetics and focuses on sustainable wellness and embodied movement.
